Our firm was founded by our late senior partner, Francis Mathews (1923-2000), who practiced law in Humboldt County for over 52 years. We are committed to carrying on the tradition of skillful and effective results-driven advocacy. Laurence A. Kluck - Partner

LAURENCE A. KLUCK, PARTNER

Mr. Kluck was born and raised in Humboldt County, graduating from Humboldt State University in 1975. Following a successful career as a real estate broker, he attended and graduated from law school at the McGeorge School of Law in 1985, and has practiced law since his admission to the California State Bar in 1986. His practice is primarily focused on real estate matters, general civil litigation and family law. Mr. Kluck has 3 children and 3 grandchildren, and is an accomplished long distance competitive bicyclist and fly fisherman.

Mr. Kluck is a highly skilled litigator with vast trial experience. He has obtained highly favorable results in a variety of matters, including boundary and easement disputes, commercial landlord/tenant issues, breach of contract and fraud, eminent domain/condemnation, and land-use/zoning matters. Mr. Kluck has successfully defended clients in a number of high profile cases, including a multi-million dollar landowner- liability case. His wealth of experience as a real estate broker, network of local business contacts, and reputation as a forceful trial attorney provide his clients a unique advantage in successfully resolving a variety of claims and disputes.

Kelly M. Walsh - Partner

KELLY M. WALSH, PARTNER

Mr. Walsh moved to Humboldt County to attend Humboldt State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Mr. Walsh thereafter attended law school at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. Upon graduation from law school, he returned to Humboldt County and joined the Mathews & Kluck firm in 1992 and has been with the firm since then. Mr. Walsh, his wife and children are active in sports and as volunteers for local events and organizations.

Mr. Walsh practices in all areas of civil law, including both litigation and transaction work, with an emphasis on the practice of family law, including marital dissolution, custody, support, and domestic violence issues. He has successfully litigated cases from Humboldt and Del Norte Counties to Orange County in Southern California. Mr. Walsh is known for being a zealous advocate of his clients' interests and is a skilled litigator.  

Timothy J. Wykle - Partner

TIMOTHY J. WYKLE, PARTNER

Mr. Wykle was born and raised in upstate New York, where he obtained an A.A.S. in Forest Technology from Syracuse University, College of Environmental Science and Forestry. He moved to Humboldt County in 1979, eventually attending Humboldt State University, earning a B.A. in Industrial Technology and Design in 1985. Following a career as a fine woodworker and general contractor, Mr. Wykle completed the study of law at the University of California, Davis, graduating in 2001. Mr. Wykle is married, with 2 children and 3 grandchildren and is an avid outdoor enthusiast, accomplished competitive cyclist, enjoys fly fishing, and actively supports several charitable organizations in our community.

Mr. Wykle is a skilled litigator and negotiator, and a tenacious advocate of his clients’ interests. His primary areas of practice are real property law; personal injury and wrongful death; civil and criminal defense of land use claims made by government against individual and business clients; estates, wills and trust drafting and litigation; and general civil litigation. His advice and perspective are frequently sought and highly valued by his numerous long-term clients. He has helped his clients obtain results ranging from multi-million dollar plaintiff recoveries to successful defense of meritless claims.
